New York d’estate è calda. Caldissima. Ma anche attiva, a differenza delle città italiane che entrano in letargo. Piena di eventi, gratuiti e non. Negozi tutti ovviamente aperti. Un sacco di gente. Viva, in altre parole. Pulsante, eccitante, a portata di mano.
L’altra sera sono stata ad un concerto gratuito di musica classica in un parco di Brooklyn:

• Bernstein – Symphonic Dances from West Side Story
• Prokofiev - Romeo and Juliet (selections)
- Food and drink (alcohol is generally tolerated, but there are police around, so keep it low-key)
- Candles (it gets dark as the night goes on and it can be difficult to see your companions)
- Jacket or Sweater (after the sun sets, the temperature can drop and you’ll be happy to have it)
- Bug spray to keep mosquitoes away (citronella candles can also do double duty)
- Balloons are a good way to help you find your friends (cell phones work too) [Please dispose of your balloons in the trash -- releasing them into the air is essentially littering and can be harmful to wildlife.]
- Blankets to sit on (a plastic garbage bag makes a great liner between your blanket/beach towel and the moist ground)
La cosa bella secondo me è che qui è tutto easy. Insomma, è musica classica, ma non c’è bisogno di essere cervelloni per godersela, non c’è bisogno di avere le perle al collo e di sedere nelle poltrone di velluto della Scala. Una candela e un parco sono il posto perfetto per farsi entrare la musica dentro e lasciarsi vivere.
Sono molte altre le attività gratuite, dal cinema a Bryant Park a un classico ma sempre d’effetto…tramonto da Staten Island!
